Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has established its seventh unit in Ireland as it continues to expand its presence in Europe.

Binance Global Sourcing was launched last week, according to the records of the Company Registry Office (CRO), the central repository of publicly available legal information about Irish companies. The Irish Independent first announced the news.

The company had previously established six units in Ireland, according to CRO records.

The news comes after France’s financial regulator gave the company a license to offer and market its services to local customers in May, after which the company chose Paris as its European headquarters.

Last year, Binance considered Ireland as part of its plans to set up a series of hubs around the world to get rid of its “decentralized” structure and improve relations with regulators.

Last month, the company’s competitor, Gemini, opened in Ireland after obtaining a license. The US-based exchange operator said it was the first crypto company registered in Ireland at the time.

The company has recently appointed Karl Long, a former WisdomTree Asset Management and State Street executive, as executive director for Irish operations. Long is currently listed as the sole director of Binance Global Sourcing and serves as corporate secretary to law firm Mason, Hayes & Curran, Irish Independent reported.

According to the news, the company’s founder and CEO, Changpeng Zhao, remains the director of the company’s six previous Irish entities, and his residence address has been updated to show his new home in Dubai.
