Frankfurt It’s like déjà vu. A year ago, Delta scared the stock markets as a new corona variant and caused the Dax to collapse by up to four percent at the beginning of Christmas week. Now it is the worries about the consequences of the Omikron variant that caused the German benchmark index to drop by up to three percent to just 15,060 points on Monday. Nevertheless, strategists are optimistic about the new stock market year.

The Handelsblatt looked at the Dax forecasts from 19 banks and asset managers. The result: On average, the Dax should stand at 17,068 points by the end of 2022. That would correspond to a price increase of twelve percent.

The DZ Bank, MM Warburg and Unicredit even expect the Dax to rise to 18,000 points. Only one bank is swimming against the tide: Bank of America (BofA) is the only one to expect a Dax drop to 15,000 points.
