Dusseldorf The financial regulator Bafin wants to examine two banks for possibly illegal share transactions. According to information from the Handelsblatt, it is Hauck Aufhäuser Lamp in Frankfurt and the Hamburg Varengold Bank. Both houses are said to be involved in cum-ex deals or similar tax evasion models. The public prosecutor’s office in Cologne is investigating against former and active employees.

“We welcome this review because we assume that the law firm will confirm the view of our lawyers who have been involved in the case so far,” said a spokeswoman for Varengold Bank. Hauck Aufhäuser Lampe did not respond to a request for a special test.

The term cum-ex describes a method of stock trading in which those involved recovered more taxes than they paid. It was very common for many years. Today, public prosecutors are investigating 130 cases against 1,700 suspects. All of the criminal cases in the Cum-Ex case that have been completed so far have ended in guilty verdicts.
