new York The big auditors KPMG and PwC are parting with their Russian business. The previous Russian member companies will leave their global associations, the accounting giants announced on Monday night.

“As a result of the Russian government’s invasion of Ukraine, we have decided that PwC should not have a member firm in Russia under these circumstances,” the company, formerly known as PricewaterhouseCoopers, said in a statement. PwC’s clients in Russia have included Sberbank and the oil company Gazprom.

KPMG and PwC are among the Big Four accounting firms, along with Deloitte and EY. The big accountants operate as global networks of local firms owned by local partners. PwC’s previous member firm in Russia — as well as in Belarus, which supports the Russian war of aggression — will continue to work for local clients under a new name, the Financial Times wrote, citing an informed person.
