A 61-year-old died in a mountain accident on the Zugspitze.
The climber lost his footing on Saturday afternoon at 2,700 meters and fell, the police said. Eyewitnesses observed the accident and notified the rescue center.
However, a rescue helicopter that started immediately could not find the victim, who came from Penzing in Bavaria. A second rescue helicopter recovered the dead climber two hours later.
