Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR game is set to launch on Meta Quest platforms in November, and the company has released an extensive eight-minute gameplay breakdown to ramp up the excitement.
We will experience Connor, Ezio and Kassandra in Assassin’s Creed VR
Described as “an all-new full-length Assassin’s Creed action-adventure game,” Nexus VR puts players in the role of an undercover elite hacker working on behalf of the Brotherhood at Abstergo. Their mission is to delve into the memories of three iconic heroes – Ezio Auditore, Connor and Kassandra – to uncover mysterious artifacts from their past.
Adopting classic Assassin’s Creed elements of stealth, agility and combat, the game is set in open maps across Renaissance Italy, Colonial America and Ancient Greece, including locations such as Venice, Boston and Newport.
Players will physically interact with the environment by using movements to simulate movements such as climbing, jumping, and swinging across gaps.
Ubisoft emphasizes a “stealth-first” approach, encouraging players to peek around corners, distract enemies with thrown objects, and use the whistling motion to attract guards for strategic takedowns.
Combat centers around the iconic wrist dagger, triggered by a controller, allowing players to attack enemies in a dynamic and instinctive way. Wrist dagger, game, blocking and dodging are also included, creating tactical opportunities to neutralize enemies.
Each assassin has ranged weapons such as a crossbow for Ezio and a bow for Kassandra and Connor, as well as throwing knives and smoke bombs. Players can orchestrate elaborate sequences by combining aerial assassinations, ranged attacks, and quick blade finishes.
Given the intense verticality and dynamic movement, Ubisoft addresses potential discomfort by implementing comfort features. These include vignetting, tunnel vision, teleportation, auto-parking for smooth navigation, and a “fear of heights” grid to place players in reality.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR is scheduled to release on Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro platforms on November 16, promising an immersive experience that blends the beloved Assassin’s Creed universe with the unique capabilities of virtual reality.
