ASELSAN is developing an insect-sized UAV!

The defense industry and aerospace industry developed unexpectedly fast in the 21st century. Of course, what paved the way for this was the acceleration in computer software and hardware. However, serious investments are made especially in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles. For example, the USA announced last year that it is working on insect-sized mini-UAV systems. Now, ASELSAN has announced that it has taken a step in this regard.

The great progress in the technology sector was also reflected in unmanned air, land, sea and space vehicles. But the popular name of the last period all over the world was undoubtedly UAV, SİHA and TİHA. The biggest reason for this is his great success in operations and wars.

When we look at the UAV side, we see a great investment in the sector, where Turkey has made its name in the top three. But not all of that budget is on bigger and faster aircraft. The interest in the mini UAVs in the image above is quite high.

Today, an aircraft was found in the Kürtün district of Gümüşhane. So what are the features of this Russian-made Orlan-10 UAV? How did it enter our country?

In fact, it is aimed to make these aircraft, which are already very difficult to notice, smaller and invisible. This is called an insect drone. This vehicle, which we see a lot in many science fiction and action movies involving agents, is now real.

Since it will look like a bee or a fly from the outside and there will be wings instead of a propeller, no one will know that it is actually a robot UAV unless they look a few centimeters from it. In this way, it can be used for many military purposes, especially for surveillance and detection. Of course, it can appear in assassination missions as well as in movies.

For now, it is known that apart from Turkey, the USA and China have taken significant steps on such systems. However, there is not yet a device that is in the size of an insect and can serve for a sufficient amount of time and transfer images as desired. It is quite difficult to achieve this.

However, it is possible to approach this target by reducing the size of the mini UAV in the image above. Even though it is not realistic in size, an insect UAV can be produced like the first image in our news in terms of design and similarity. In fact, this image belongs to an unsuccessful attempt by an Australian company.
