This application offers the ability to diagnose images obtained from inside the ear with artificial intelligence. Acute otitis media (AOM) is one of the most common diseases for which antibiotics are prescribed in children. However, diagnosis of this disease requires expertise.

AOM, which even specialist doctors confuse with a normal ear infection, causes children to take unnecessary antibiotics. According to research, 70 percent of children are diagnosed with AOM before they turn one year old.

Artificial intelligence divides in-ear videos taken for AOM diagnosis into groups according to their similarities.

Researchers have developed an application that uses artificial intelligence for the diagnosis of AOM, which requires expertise. First, researchers obtained 1,135 eardrum videos from 635 children treated for AOM. Researchers annotated these diseased eardrum videos and trained artificial intelligence on AOM. Experts also showed similar cases of acute otitis media with videos and trained artificial intelligence.
