Packageman, the ordering application serving only with Arabic language support in Turkey, reported that it was attacked by cyber attacks. The company announced that users’ personal information was seized.
Order application like Getir, which was on the agenda of Turkey with only Arabic language support last week packagemanannounced that it was cyber-attacked in a statement to the Personal Data Protection Authority. According to the statement made by the application, the attackers demanded a ransom from the company.
According to the statement published by KVKK, cyber attackers carried out a cyber attack on the database system of Packageman and announced that the data in the database was deleted and the data in question was seized by the attackers. The attackers demanded a ransom Notifying the company, the company shared the following information about the violation:

KVKK, on the subject continuing the investigation explained. Packageman did not share any explanation regarding the cyber attack in question. By making the aforementioned statement, the company acted in accordance with paragraph 5 of Article 12 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, titled ‘Duties regarding data security’.
Paragraph 5 of Article 12 of the KVKK:
“In case the processed personal data is obtained by others illegally, the data controller shall notify the relevant person and the Board as soon as possible. If necessary, the Board may announce this situation on its own website or by any other method it deems appropriate.”
