Algorand Altcoin Developers Demand Helium Network Migrate to Their Own Blockchain

Earlier on Monday, two Algorand executives tweeted that they were interested in moving decentralized Wi-Fi network Helium to its own blockchain instead of Solana.

Founder Silvio Micali and CTO John Alan Wood made not-so-subtle references to Solana, with tweets saying Helium “needs a secure, robust and scalable chain.”

Algorand-focused venture firm and Helium investor Borderless Capital has also called for Helium to reconsider its possible new headquarters.

He urged the community to set aside the proposal to switch to Solana and “evaluate proposals from other leading first-level blockchains first.”

These pro-Algorand calls come two weeks after developers of the Helium altcoin ecosystem proposed a vote to transition to Solana, abandoning its own unstable chain in the name of scalability and network efficiency.

Borderless Capital said in a tweet on the subject:

“We agree that Helium cannot maintain and operate its own L1 chain.

However, it is impossible for the community, third-party developers, staking providers, and users to understand the pros and cons of moving to an L1 like Solana without more rigorous analysis and transparency.”

Helium developers have abandoned their own networks to create Solana (SOL), which they think is faster and cheaper. cryptocurrency announced that they were planning to switch to the network.
