new York According to CEO Andy Jassy, the online giant Amazon is laying off even more employees than previously reported by the media. The job cuts will now affect more than 18,000 jobs as part of a previously announced workforce reduction, CEO Andy Jassy told Amazon workers on Wednesday.
The Wall Street Journal had previously reported 17,000 job cuts. The US company began laying off employees in Amazon’s equipment and services divisions in November. At the time, an insider spoke to Reuters of the planned 10,000 job cuts. Rising inflation and the looming recession are affecting the entire tech industry.
