Amazon to reinstate worker illegally fired

On April 6, 2020, a protest took place at the Amazon facility known as JFK8. A worker was fired by the company for participating in security protests at this Staten Island warehouse. The court rush that has been going on since that day has finally come to an end.

An employee named Gerald Bryson said that Amazon had to close the warehouse because it did not sufficiently protect the employees regarding the coronavirus that had just erupted at that time. This protest rhetoric resulted in his dismissal.

Amazon argued that the worker used heavy swearing in this protest and that he was fired for “abusive, rude or abusive language”. Then, after two years of litigation, the court announced its decision today. Deciding that he had attempted to unlawfully fire, the court found Amazon guilty.

According to the court’s decision, Gerald Bryson will return to his old job and continue his working life. On the other hand, the money for the period in which he did not work to compensate for the loss he experienced during this period will be returned to him by Amazon. Following what happened, Amazon said it would appeal the decision, spokesperson Kelly Nantel told APNews.
