Passengers had complained about delayed flights on social media. According to the website flightaware.com, shortly after the FAA’s announcement, more than 3,500 flights within, to or from the USA were delayed and almost 400 were canceled.

The disruption at the FAA does not affect Lufthansa flights to and from the USA, as the airline informed the German Press Agency. A spokesman for the Frankfurt airport operator Fraport said that the operational impact on flight operations in Frankfurt has so far been minor.
A White House spokeswoman said on Wednesday on twitter, so far there is no evidence of a cyber attack. President Joe Biden has instructed the Department of Transportation to conduct a full investigation into the reasons.
