Frankfurt On Thursday, the markets in the euro zone and outside are likely to move: At the meeting of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB), investors and strategists are expecting President Christine Lagarde to make clear statements about the specific course she will take to counter high inflation .

Investors’ fears of additional burdens from a tighter monetary policy for an economy already battered by war and the pandemic could cause renewed volatility on the stock markets.

“The reorganization of the world is in full swing,” sums up Martin Lück, chief investment strategist for Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe at the world’s largest asset manager Blackrock, and emphasizes the influence of the central banks among the various stress factors. Therefore, “equity investors need staying power if they hope for a return to old highs.”
