Dusseldorf The personnel consultancy Heidrick & Struggles, which is one of the world’s leading ones, recently strengthened its position in Germany. With the takeover of the Atreus consultancy, which specializes in interim management, the listed company gained massive influence on the German market. After Egon Zehnder and ahead of its US competitors Russell Reynolds and Korn Ferry, it is now number two among search and consulting firms run by and for top managers in Germany.
For CEO Krishnan Rajagopalan, this is an occasion to come back to Germany. Born in Chennai, India, the American has been leading the company, which had annual sales of $1.07 billion in 2022, for seven years.
But it is becoming increasingly complex for top management to lead large companies: “Top managers currently have a broader range of tasks than ever before. We live in a world of ‘always more’,” says the 63-year-old. It is not for nothing that an above-average number of CEOs have recently been replaced.
