The collective bargaining parties in the public sector at federal and local level have reached an agreement in their negotiations for around 2.5 million employees. This was announced by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser on Saturday evening in Potsdam. The SPD politician spoke of a “good and fair collective bargaining agreement” that brings noticeable relief for employees. “We have accommodated the unions as much as we can still be responsible for in a difficult budget situation.”

The Verdi union announced that a member survey was now being launched. The Federal Tariff Commission will then decide on May 15th.

According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the conclusion provides for inflation compensation totaling 3,000 euros in installments. As of March 1, 2024, the fees are to be increased by an amount of 200 euros in a first step. In a second step, the amount then increased should increase again linearly by 5.5 percent. However, the increase should be 340 euros in any case. The term should be 24 months.
