Tel Aviv Israel’s prime minister managed a surprise this Saturday: Naftali Bennett met with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin during a working visit to Moscow. The exchange about the war in Ukraine is said to have lasted three hours, according to government circles in Jerusalem.
Bennett has coordinated with the US, Germany and France and is “in constant communication with Ukraine”. He also spoke to Putin about the situation of the Israelis and the Jewish communities in view of the conflict.
After the meeting with Putin, Bennett is said to have first telephoned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and then traveled to Berlin to consult with Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This was reported from German government circles and was confirmed by Bennett’s office.
