Wanting to earn more money through the Play Store, Google started testing new ad placements. With the changes to be made, sponsored content will also be displayed in the Google Play Store search bar.

Tapping the Google Play Store search bar will bring up the last four previous queries. Google will also include ads called “limited-time events and sponsored offers” under past searches. It should be noted that the number of ads in the search bar will be limited to three.

Limited time events are an existing tool used to promote streaming apps that could be a particularly interesting sporting event or in-game event later in the day. They usually appear as cards in the main streams of the Play Store. It will now show in the search history along with the app name, icon, rating and number of downloads.

This change was announced in the April Google System Updates changelog. The change, which started to be tested in 2022, is offered to users gradually.
