A New Life Species Discovered in Zonguldak!

Turkish scientists discovered a new species in Gökgöl Cave in Zonguldak.

Samples collected in Zonguldak’s Gökgöl Cave have revealed a creature that has never been described in the scientific world. The new creature also refers to the contributions of the Caving Federation “Gammarus tumafnamed ”.

How did the discovery take place?

Two scientists working on different species in Zonguldak’s Gökgöl Cave, collected the samples from Ege University Faculty of Fisheries Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Murat Özbek, Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, Faculty of Fisheries, Dr. He shared it with Faculty Members İsmail Aksu and Hazel Baytaşoğlu.

As a result of the structural and molecular analyzes of these specimens belonging to the genus known as ungulates or “Gammarus”, it was determined that the creatures in question were different from the species described so far. new species only 13 millimeters long He lived in the dark area, one kilometer from the cave entrance.

The discovery was published in the journal Zoosystematics and Evolution.
