new York “Hydrogen” is the new buzzword at Ceraweek. There is hardly a panel at the largest industry meeting of the oil industry in Houston, Texas, where the topic of hydrogen is not discussed. No hallway or table conversation can ignore who is investing in hydrogen and how hydrogen can be produced, transported or broken down. And the panel discussions on “Hydrogen” in particular are so crowded that many participants have to stand and push their way to the doors.
The Ceraweek is considered an important mood barometer for the energy industry. Just a year ago, Russia and the attack on Ukraine was the dominant theme at the S&P conference, which brings together oil company CEOs, OPEC officials, start-ups and government officials.
A year ago, the long-battered oil companies hailed themselves as the saviors of the crisis, supplying the world with much-needed fossil fuels after sanctions against Russia.
