The thoughtful conversations during walks through the snow are traditionally part of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Inflation, trade conflicts, the Ukraine war, the climate crisis – there are enough problems right now. “The new economic era could be the first step backwards in human development for decades,” analyzed the WEF even before it started.
And so it dawned on many Davos travelers that the world that had long been propagated on the Magic Mountain no longer existed; a world of increasing free trade, a world in which the majority of nations believe that problems can only be solved together. Maybe that was always a naive view of the world. But that’s another topic.
