Dusseldorf Anyone who wants to buy an electric car in the near future should get quite a shock when looking at the current price list. 8520 euros, 6430 euros, 2600 euros: These are not the prices for old used cars, but the price increases of the popular e-cars Tesla Model 3, Fiat 500e and VW ID.3 in the past twelve months.

On average, customers pay 14.5 percent or 5,385 euros more for the 15 most popular e-cars than a year ago, as calculated by the Center for Automotive Research (CAR). This means that the prices for electric vehicles have risen more than those for cars with diesel or petrol engines, which rose by an average of 12.5 percent or 3531 euros last year.
