40 Million Dollars Value of Bitcoin and USDT Seized in Ankara-based Operation!

In an operation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in the morning hours, 40 million dollars worth of crypto money was seized.

In the investigation conducted in Ankara, simultaneous raids were carried out in 8 provinces with the illegal betting operation. In the operation in which 46 people were detained, it was determined that the suspects used crypto money to hide their activities.

After it was determined that the suspects transferred their assets obtained from the crime to domestic and foreign crypto exchanges, 666 Bitcoin and 14 million USD worth of USDT in crypto exchanges were seized by the decision of the Criminal Court of Peace.

In the examination made by MASAK, it was determined that the suspects earned 2.5 billion TL worth of income from various crimes and that the money collected was transferred to crypto asset exchanges with 118 thousand transactions.

It has been reported that the suspects will be prosecuted for the offenses of establishing, managing, becoming a member of an organization in order to commit a crime, opposition to Law No. 7258 (Law on Arrangement of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions) within the framework of the organization’s actions, and laundering the assets resulting from the crime.
