3 Akıncı SİHAs have been delivered to our army!

Baykar Defense continues on the road it started in 1984, getting stronger with the new generation technologies it has produced after 37 years. Investments in the UAV industry, which started with the 2nd generation members of the family, Haluk and Selçuk Bayraktar in the 2000s, reached a happy end with the first flight of the TB2 model in 2014. Then the company said that it started working on a new model called Akıncı.

Baykar’s TB2 model has managed to attract the attention of dozens of countries from different parts of the world, especially after its high operational success and providing the support needed by the soldiers at the front during the war. Then it started to break big export records on behalf of our country. The company developed the Akıncı model in order to take this success one step further.

Turkey rolled up its sleeves for RAMJET engine

TÜBİTAK SAGE is working on RAMJET engine technology to reach hypersonic speeds. Here is the statement made by the General Manager of TÜBİTAK SAGE on the subject!

TAF rose to 2nd place in the world as UAV and SİHA power!

With the TUSAŞ Anka model, which made its first flight in 2010 but was included in the inventory in 2013, the Turkish Armed Forces showed the whole world that it can produce unmanned aerial vehicles. Of course, in the following years, the technologies in Anka-S and Anka-B models were developed.

Then, in 2014, Baykar Defense’s TB2 model both made its first flight and entered the inventory. The biggest advantage of this model, which has been produced more than 200 so far, is that it is compact in size and does not travel at high speeds and emits low heat trace, making it very difficult for air defense systems to detect itself.

In addition, despite its small size, it can hit targets precisely because it uses 4 mini smart ammunition such as MAM-L and MAM-C. Moreover, the TB2s hold an important record for the Turkish aviation industry by reaching 400 thousand hours of flight data. Therefore, the place of TB2s will be separate for both our army and our people.

Looking at the chronological order, our next SİHA will be TUSAŞ Aksungur. TUSAS has placed a better feature on the Anka model, on which it has been working and developing for more than 10 years, which we see in a positive way.

Moreover, this model, unlike Anka and its derivatives, comes with 2 engines on the left and right. In this way, the useful load it carries is increased. In addition, Aksungur says that he is ready for all kinds of difficult missions, not only the maritime patrol, with an air stay of 50 hours, that is, more than 2 days. In addition, it should be noted that TAI continues to work on placing the weapon systems produced for the F4 and F16s on this UAV.

Bayraktar Akinci features

  • 40,000 feet (12km+) altitude.
  • Flight time exceeding 24 hours.
  • 195Knots (361km/h) speed.
  • Fully automatic flight control and 3 redundant autopilot system.
  • Automatic and precise landing and take-off independent of ground systems.
  • Control from anywhere in the world thanks to satellite communication.
  • It has no dependency on GPS. Internal Sensor fusion.
  • It can use laser-guided smart munitions and our pupil SOM missile.
  • AESA radar, Aselsan common aperture targeting system and electronic warfare systems.
  • Takeoff weight up to 6 tons.
  • Payload up to 1.5 tons.
  • 2x 750 hp or 2x 450 hp engine options.
  • 12.2m long, 20m wingspan, 4.1m high.

In his post today, the Ministry of National Defense said that the inspection and acceptance activities of 3 Bayraktar Akıncı SİHAs, whose final flight and control tests have been going on for a long time, have been completed. It also confirmed that it will soon enter the inventory of our Land Forces Command.

Then, in Selçuk Bayraktar, the architect of TB2, who played a major role in the construction of Akıncı, Bayraktar #AKINCI TİHAs, which will add strength to the strength of the TAF and will be a force multiplier, were delivered to our army and active operational use began. Good luck and good luck…”

Bayraktar Akıncı will be able to work in coordination with TB2 and TUSAŞ’s other SİHAs and UAVs in the field. In addition, thanks to the high technology it contains, it will be able to serve with the Hürjet, Hürkuş and F16s, as well as the 5th generation National Combat Fighter aircraft that Turkey plans to produce in the future.

At the same time, Akıncı’s 1.5 ton high useful load capacity allows F16s to undertake air-to-ground duties, thus reducing the load of F16s until our 5th generation warplanes and the MIUS unmanned fighter aircraft, which was planned to be developed by Baykar in the 1st plan, are ready. It is planned to increase their useful life.

Of course, another advantage was that TB2 and Phoenix SİHAs could only carry 4 mini ammunition, even though they had very effective target accuracy. Therefore, only targeted strategic attacks could be made. However, with Akıncı and Aksungur, the damage that a single SİHA can do has increased almost 10 times.
