14th Gen Processors From Intel May Use A Different Socket

It has been reported that Intel’s Meteor Lake processors will be moved to a new socket. This means that Alder Lake owners will have to buy a new motherboard if they want to upgrade.

According to newly emerging rumors, Intel’s 14th generation desktop processors, codenamed Meteor Lake, will require a new LGA 2551 socket, which is the same as existing LGA 1700 motherboards. that it will only support two CPU generations means. So those who want to upgrade their processors will have to upgrade their motherboards as well.

LGA 2551 measures 38 x 46 mm, i.e. from LGA 1700 0.5mm wider and 1mm longer. Attaching more than 50% more pins to a similar architecture means the pin density will be much higher. This will likely be the company’s first DDR5 platform.

New Meteor Lake processors will arrive in the last quarter of 2023

Meteor Lake processors are expected to arrive in Q4 of 2023 and feature several new technologies developed by Intel. processors, ranging from 5 W to 125 W It will introduce a new flooring architecture with TDPs.

The processor will use the Intel 4 compute nodes and will be the first to feature the new architectures for both P-cores and E-cores. TSMC’s internal graphics unit It will be built on the N3 node and it will have twice as many EU as Alder Lake. Everything will be put together using Intel’s Foveros 3D packaging technology.
