11 different apps threaten Android users’ wallets
Cybersecurity researchers from Kaspersky recently uncovered the malicious Fleckpe. It has been tested that this software has been integrated into at least 11 Android applications with a total of approximately 620,000 downloads. These softwares, which come across as picture editor, wallpaper and beauty applications, are eyeing users’ wallets.
When this app was installed, the malware was found to secretly subscribe users to certain premium services. Malware owners thus fill their pockets by getting a share per subscriber. It is also said that these subscription services may belong directly to these people.

Researchers have determined that the malware has been active since at least 2022. The money earned by malware owners with this software has not yet been determined. It was underlined that these applications, which were determined to be downloaded from all parts of the world, are mostly used in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Poland.
While it is also stated that these software can steal personal information, it is noted that it causes a significant increase in mobile payments of some users. According to Kaspersky’s report, these apps have been removed from Google Play, but other apps with the same malware are suspected.
