New lawsuit for iPhone battery restriction claim
An advocate named Justin Gutmann believes Apple is cheating on its customers about battery restrictions. Saying that old iPhones cannot reach their real performance, Gutmann applied to the UK Competition Appeal Court, representing 25 million users.
The claim, made by the consumer rights advocate, deals with a software update that was sent to iPhone users in January 2017. In the case report iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, SE, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X models are referenced.
Gutmann, with iPhone performance issues claimed that the battery management tool in iOS updates was hidden to combat and prevent older devices from suddenly shutting down. He accused the company of slowing down iPhone performance and sought compensation.
If the lawsuit is settled, Apple will save approximately 25 million iPhone users. $1 billion compensation will pay. However, Apple has stated in its previous statement that it “never” intentionally reduces the lifespan of its devices.
This isn’t the first lawsuit filed against Apple’s attempt to slow down older iPhones. As part of an investigation launched in the US in 2020, Apple’s former device owners Payment of up to 500 million dollars it was decided to do it.
