Chrome OS users will not be able to access the Zoom app
Many users have purchased Chromebooks for distance learning and remote work. The technology sector is characterized as one of the most profitable markets in the pandemic.
Making a statement on the subject, the company said, “from August 2022 Chromebook users will not be able to access the Zoom app. You can download Zoom for Chrome PWA from Play Store as our app is not officially supported.” made statements.
Serving Chrome OS users for several years, Zoom did not offer some features in other operating systems to Chromebook owners. The Zoom application, which has not received a significant update, will be closed as the company will focus on different places.
Google announced in August 2020 that it would gradually remove Chrome apps from all platforms. Windows, macOS and Linux Chrome app support for Chrome ended in June 2021.
From June 2022, Google announced that new Chrome apps will not be accepted. The company has updated all existing apps to be unlisted on the Chrome Web Store.
In many countries, especially in the USA and Europe, a hybrid working system has been adopted. The hybrid work, in which employees visit the office on certain days, prevented the decline in the use of video conferencing applications such as Zoom.
