Google announced in August 2020 that it would gradually remove Chrome apps from all platforms. Windows, macOS and Linux Chrome app support for Chrome ended in June 2021.

From June 2022, Google announced that new Chrome apps will not be accepted. The company has updated all existing apps to be unlisted on the Chrome Web Store.

In many countries, especially in the USA and Europe, a hybrid working system has been adopted. The hybrid work, in which employees visit the office on certain days, prevented the decline in the use of video conferencing applications such as Zoom.
