Zoom fixes an important security vulnerability!

Zoom has released a patch for a bug in macOS that could lead to the operating system being taken over by others. Zoom acknowledges this issue in the shared security bulletin (CVE-2022-28756). To solve this problem, the company shared a new patch on its site in a short time.

Zoom states that this problem has been eliminated with the 5.11.5 version of the application. The bug in Zoom, on the other hand, spoofs the application’s cryptographic signature, making it vulnerable to malicious programs. It is stated that attackers can take advantage of this vulnerability and access a user’s system, modifying, deleting or adding files on the device.

Patrick Wardle, a security researcher and founder of the Objective-See Foundation, a nonprofit that creates open-source macOS security tools, was the first person to raise this issue on Zoom. Wardle later expressed this problem at a conference he attended.

After all this, we can say that Zoom took action quickly. With the released patch, this problem in Zoom has been eliminated. Zoom now takes an extra precaution for .pkg updates, preventing malicious people from harming their users.

You can install the 5.11.5 update on Zoom by first opening the application on your Mac and using the menu bar at the top of your screen. After entering the ‘Check for updates’ section, you will be greeted with a window with the latest app version. To start downloading the patch from this section, simply click on the ‘Update’ option.
