In a development that will no doubt be welcomed by those who are doomed to be gifted strange games by their friends, Valve is working to allow Steam users to hide certain games they own from prying eyes.
You can now hide the games in your Steam library
As spotted by SteamDB creator Pavel Djundik, you’ll soon be able to hide individual games in your libraries from public view by marking them as “private.” So, if you were ‘gifted’ a hentai game like Sex Chess, for example, and you are not ready to explain to your acquaintances and loved ones why it exists in your library, you will be able to make your game invisible to others with just a click.
It looks like the ability to hide games in your library isn’t the only thing on Valve’s potential to-do list. Djundik suggested that the company is also working on some new parental controls through the addition of family groups. This means that when purchasing a game on an account with a family view, approval will now be required.
Of course, Steam’s decision to introduce this feature is not just to hide ‘defective’ games. It’s also useful if you don’t want people to see how many hours you’ve spent on a game, for example. It can also be used to get rid of ‘lifeless’ comments. What are you thinking? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
