Washington World Bank to provide Turkey with $1.78 billion (€1.65 billion) in aid after the devastating earthquakes. The aim is to advance the aid and reconstruction measures, as the World Bank said in Washington on Thursday. A rapid damage assessment had also been launched to assess the extent of the disaster and identify priority areas for reconstruction support.

On the one hand, the support is 780 million US dollars in emergency aid, which would be provided from two existing projects in Turkey, it said. Work is underway to provide another billion US dollars. It was initially unclear whether these funds will be aid money or a loan.
