Dusseldorf The boss of the Kassel-based oil and gas group Wintershall Dea wants to produce more oil and gas in Germany. “We have to play the trump cards that we have held for a long time wisely and responsibly by producing as much gas and oil as possible in Germany,” said Mario Mehren on Tuesday when presenting the group results for the second quarter of the financial year.
Some people find it difficult to leave their comfort zone and accept the consequences of the current crisis. But: “If we want to reduce our dependency on imports, production in the EU is a must.” Wintershall is therefore analyzing all options for producing more gas and oil from its German fields as quickly as possible.
