Mozilla has announced the details of the latest version of Firefox, version 115.0. The internet browser, which has gained a number of new features and hidden settings with the latest version, has also issued a warning message for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users.

Expressing that Microsoft withdrew support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 in January 2023, Mozilla confirmed that Firefox 115 will be the last browser version to support deprecated operating systems. Mac users were also faced with a similar warning regarding macOS 10.12, 10.13, and 10.14, also known as Sierra, High Sierra, and Mojave.
With the release of Firefox 116.0, Windows 7 and Windows 8 users will upgrade to Extended Support Release (ESR). Users of the popular internet browser will continue to receive security updates with this version.

Fortunately, Windows 7 and Windows 8 users make up a small fraction of the total users. According to Statcounter, Windows 7 is preferred by only 3 percent of total Windows users. Windows 8, on the other hand, represents only 1 percent of all Windows versions. The usage rate of Firefox among all internet browsers is 6%.
Users will now need to have Windows 10 or 11 or macOS Catalina or newer to take full advantage of Firefox 116. Google also ended its support for old internet browsers with Chrome 110.
