Windows 11 Photos app has been renewed!

Windows 11 has been around for over a year and has recently received its first major update with version 22H2. Innovations continue in the operating system, which has a new design with the new generation. With the new update, the Photos application has also received a significant change.

Photos app gets a brand new look

Microsoft has released a major update for the Photos app that completely changes the gallery view, adds some new features, and removes some old ones. Do not reach all computers yet, it is possible to check this update through the Microsoft Store.

The new Photos app brings a completely revamped gallery view and improved navigation. The main stage of the application continues to show the latest photos, but on the left side of the screen there is a section with different folders.

The Photos app aims to make files easier to find with this new navigation section. In addition to photos on the device, this section also includes a tab for OneDrive, iCloud, and favorite photos. At the bottom of this section, there is also information about how much storage space is left on OneDrive.

While the gallery view is completely changing, we see that the photos are no longer separated by dates. However, as you scroll the screen, the window above indicates the date the photos were added. Also, with the new ‘River’ option, photos are previewed according to their original aspect ratio. In addition, a filter feature is now included in the application to see only photos and videos.

With the update, in-app interaction ways have also changed. Now you have to click twice to view a photo. On the other hand, once clicked, the photo is selected. After the photo is selected, desired changes can be made from the menu on the top right.

Photo viewing will now be quite different from previous versions. When you double-click on a photo, a new tab will open, and the photo you selected will appear in a big way. At the top of the window that opens, there are various options for editing the selected photo. At the bottom of the photo, you see your gallery in small squares.

On the other hand, we see that there is no longer a video editor in the new Photos app. The reason for this is the Clipchamp application, which is now available in Windows 11. Clipchamp is an advanced program with more editing options and more complex features compared to the Photos app.

The settings page in the new Photos app has also been significantly revamped and simplified. The app offers many new options, including the theme, the permission requested when deleting a file, and more. You can also disable access to OneDrive or iCloud, or remove these options completely from the sidebar.
