Osnabruck Hendrik Holt hid his face under a corona mask, although there was no mask requirement in the courtroom. The former wind energy prodigy stared straight ahead as presiding judge Norbert Carstensen read out the verdict on Thursday: Holt faces seven years and six months in prison for gang and commercial fraud.
The district court in Osnabrück also convicted the finance director of the Holt Group, Heinz Luchterhand. He has to serve seven years in prison. Holt’s mother, sister and brother also received prison terms ranging from three years to three years and seven months. As a gang, the five accused had committed acts of fraud to the detriment of three state-owned energy companies, said Carstensen in his verdict.
