Is he already gone after the World Cup? |

This is really how Sosa plans his future

VfB star Borna Sosa (24) did not play in Croatia’s World Cup dress rehearsal on Wednesday afternoon against Saudi Arabia (1-0). The left-back was rested after his horse kiss, which he suffered eight days ago in the game against Hertha BSC (2-1).

Because he is needed at the World Cup. What’s more, Sosa has big plans for his first major tournament. He wants to show the football world what he’s got.

It’s no longer a secret: The national defender, who is playing his fifth season with VfB and is the longest-serving player with the Reds, wants to take the next step in his career. He is drawn to a top club. Inter Milan, Bergamo and Newcastle United are said to be interested, among others.

Many VfB fans are worried: will Sosa be gone after the World Cup? Will he never wear the breast ring jersey again? BILD says how the likeable Croatian really plans his future!

Two against one is cowardly? Does not apply to Borna Sosa. The Croatian prevails against two Bochum players.

Sosa (contract until 2025) has changed his advisor and is now managed by the international mega-agency “ICM Stellar”. But a change in the winter break is not in his mind. Also because experience has shown that the transfer market in summer has many more and much better offers than the transfer window in winter. At VfB, too, they definitely want to keep the in-form Croatian (market value of 20 million euros) until the end of the season.

Sports director Sven Mislintat (50): “The World Cup is a brutal showcase. But my clear wish is that Borna stays. He is an absolute quality player. It would be hard enough to replace him in the summer. A transfer in winter would not be good. That would weaken us. It’s very important that we maintain the quality of the squad. Then we will be strong enough to stay up in the league.”
