Istanbul It is a provocation for Greece: a few days ago, the Turkish military tested a short-range missile that it had produced itself. The Tayfun missile was featured in all the country’s news channels, each time highlighting that the test missile had hit its target at a distance of exactly 561 kilometers. This is no coincidence. The distance corresponds exactly to that between Istanbul and the Greek capital Athens.

The conflict between the two NATO countries is becoming more and more open. “One night we can come,” President Erdogan recently threatened the Greek neighbors. It’s about sea borders that Turkey doesn’t agree with – and about natural gas deposits under the sea.

Concern about the conflict between the two member countries is growing at NATO headquarters in Brussels. In any case, the transatlantic alliance’s displeasure with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan can no longer be ignored. And that’s not just because of Ankara’s threatening gestures towards Greece.
