Experienced HR managers still have attractive opportunities to change jobs, although companies are looking for fewer HR managers. After an increase in job offers in 2021 and 2022, the needs of companies now appear to be partially met. In the first quarter of 2023, there were a total of 45,812 vacancies for HR managers – after a peak of around 53,000 vacancies in the summer months of 2022.
Bucking the trend, HR managers with specific skills are now still in demand, particularly in some regions. This is shown by the job and skill barometer of the German Society for Personnel Management (DGFP). This is the professional association of personnel managers, which creates the barometer together with the personnel service provider Textkernel.
This barometer indicates how the labor market is developing for certain occupations – and which skills employers are currently looking for. Job offers from more than 250,000 websites are evaluated for the barometer. The Handelsblatt has summarized the most advantageous and surprising findings for applicants.
