Which costs less in 2022 than in 2021

Many products and services cost even less today than they did a year ago.

Berlin Close your eyes and through, that is currently the motto of most Germans. A new survey commissioned by the Savings Banks Association shows that 57 percent of consumers have already reduced their consumption. “Around 90 percent of those surveyed are concerned about inflation,” says Sparkasse President Helmut Schleweis.

No wonder: in September the inflation rate was ten percent. And if you believe the Deutsche Bundesbank, things won’t get any better for the time being. “In the next few months, the inflation rate is likely to remain in the double digits,” writes the Bundesbank in its latest monthly report.

There are plenty of examples: the prices for firewood doubled in September compared to the same month last year, heating oil is 94 percent more expensive and sunflower oil 80 percent more expensive than in September 2021. You have to pay 56 percent more for butter today and 35 percent more for cream.
