When and on what influencers will have to pay taxes in 2022

Frankfurt The Chinese influencer Huang Wie, known as Viya, had to pay the equivalent of 186 million euros at the beginning of the year. You have concealed income or declared it incorrectly – an extreme case and a deterrent example.

However, anyone who earns money through advertising on social media platforms such as Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok, Twitch or Only Fans should be aware that the tax office is interested in this – also in Germany.

Many become influencers almost automatically. Anyone who posts pictures and videos quickly gets the same questions over and over again: Where is the pictured dress, sneaker, baby toy from? Or which camera was used to film the surfing or deep snow trips? Many users therefore link the products or manufacturer profiles – and thus take the first step towards becoming an influencer.
