There is no information about the structure of the rock and how long it has been on the surface of Mars. On the other hand, this rock has landed on the Martian surface. Nor is it the first piece of meteorite discovered. Perseverance and its predecessor, the Curiosty spacecraft, had encountered meteorite fragments many times.
Perseverance explores the circumference of Jezero crater, which is now 45 kilometers in diameter. It is estimated that this crater may have hosted a large lake billions of years ago. In the future, samples collected by Perseverance from the surface of Mars delivery to the world is planned.
