WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make it possible to transfer community ownership. This feature will allow administrators to transfer ownership and responsibilities to another member.
Transferring WhatsApp community ownership becomes easier
WhatsApp started testing the feature of transferring channel ownership a few months ago. Now it is expanding this functionality to communities. The WhatsApp community takeover feature was seen with the Android 2.24.11.18 beta update.
This new feature, discovered by WABetaInfo, shows that WhatsApp will offer the ability to delegate main admin privileges and duties in communities to another member.
When an administrator decides to transfer community ownership, they will have to agree to transfer their privileges and responsibilities for any group chats in the community. The manager who relinquishes ownership will retain his manager status even if he is removed from the community by the new owner.
Since this feature is still under development, it is unknown when it will be available for general use. However, once this feature is in place, it will simplify the ownership transfer process for those who need to step back due to time constraints or other reasons.

That wasn’t the only new feature revealed this week. WhatsApp is also working on a feature that will allow users to clear their unread message count when they open the app. This feature will provide great convenience, especially for users with heavy messaging traffic.
