What Trump’s return would mean

It’s November 5th, 2024 and the world has changed, once again. Donald Trump won the presidential election. Sinclair Lewis’ novel It Can’t Happen Here, first published in 1935, is again storming the bestseller lists – as it did in winter 2016/17, after Trump’s first election. The book’s antihero is a right-wing populist despised by the liberal establishment who conquers the White House with diatribes.

November 5, 2024 is already occupying political planning teams around the world. A third of US voters are still convinced that Trump’s 2020 election victory was “stolen”. At the same time, Joe Biden’s Democratic Party is in danger of dismantling itself; the president’s poll numbers are plummeting.
