Dusseldorf On May 6th Charles III. was crowned King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and 14 other countries at the age of 74. He also assumes responsibility for a medium-sized company: the house of Windsor.

The maintenance of a royal family is not for average earners: staff, palaces, trips and banquets – all of this needs to be financed and maintained. The state injects a lot of money, part of the expenses are paid from private coffers.

Expenditure on staff is also a major cost item for the Windsors’ family business – which you first have to be able to afford. After all, there are 491 employees for every 26 members of the royal family – from butlers to gardeners.
