In addition, it has been announced that the said increase will in no way exceed the SCT amounts dated 2 April 2020. In addition, announced by the GİB (Revenue Administration) Special Consumption Tax Amounts and Rates According to the effective list, it was last edited on 01.03.2022.

Fuel prices without excise duty

Before moving on to the answer to the question of how much fuel prices are without SCT, let’s mention one more issue. When we buy a technological product such as a smartphone, 50 percent SCT and then 18 percent VAT are charged. Of course, there are a few more taxes.

However, VAT is still 18 percent while buying gasoline and diesel, while SCT does not have a rate. For example, according to the share made by the GİB, an SCT of 2.5265 TL per liter is collected over unleaded gasoline (95 octane). At this point, the tax amount remains the same, even if the gasoline price is constantly changing.

However, it should be noted that the SCT may vary periodically with the President’s decision, depending on the situation. For example, on February 28, 2022, it was said that there was a 49 cent discount on gasoline, effective on 01/03/2022. However, since the SCT increase was made as much as the discount rate, it was not reflected in the pump prices.

As of today, 18.05.2022, there has been a 1 lira and 3 kurus increase in gasoline, on condition that it is valid as of midnight. However, we will use instant prices as they are not yet effective. For Istanbul, the price of gasoline is listed as 22.84 TL / LT, while diesel is listed as 22.09 TL / LT.

According to GİB data, 2.5265 TL/LT of these prices for gasoline and 2.0559 TL/LT for diesel is SCT. In addition, 18 percent VAT is taken from the SCT. In other words, there is a SCT share of 0.45477 TL in gasoline and 0.370062 TL in diesel.

The fuel prices without SCT, which we calculated by considering all these, are as follows:

As of 18.05.2022 Pump sale price price without excise duty
Gasoline 22.84 TL 19.94 TL
diesel 22.09 TL 19.66 TL
