Weapons deliveries – when will Scholz finally say yes?

Berlin Germany is once again the focus of news about the war in Ukraine, in two ways. In Ramstein, defense ministers and military experts from 50 countries discussed which weapons supplies Kyiv needs in the next phase of the war in order to push back the Russian army. The largest American air force base outside the United States is a hub for supplies.

At the same time, all eyes were on Berlin: when will the federal government decide whether to supply Kyiv with the combat and transport tanks it requested? The applications for export permits have been before the Federal Security Council for months. All three traffic light parties are represented there. But nobody wants to be responsible for the fact that the panel says neither yes nor no.

The SPD in particular is distracting the public with a confusing game. Sometimes she refers to alleged agreements that nobody would deliver western battle tanks, the USA no Abrams, France no Leclerc. Is that why there are no Leos for Ukraine, because there should be “no national solo efforts”?
