An X administrator announced that soon the like section on profiles will be private for everyone. This feature was normally only available to paid subscribers.
X (formerly Twitter) has undergone several major changes since Elon Musk took over. One of these is the feature in profiles, which started to be offered to Premium subscribers in September last year. He didn’t hide the like part. So, when you entered the profiles of paid subscribers, you could not see what they liked.
Now, an important statement has come on this subject. Haofei Wang, a manager on the engineering side of X, announced that hiding the likes tab will be available to everyone by default.
We won’t be able to see what anyone likes anymore
In his statement, Wang stated that showing likes is not a good thing because it can spoil people’s image: “Yes, we make likes special. Public likes, encourages wrong behavior. For example, many people cannot like every content they want to avoid trolls or to protect their public image.”
There is no information yet on when likes will start being hidden. Wang, “Without worrying about who will see you soon You can like any post you want.” Although he used the following expressions, he did not give an exact date. For now we can only say that it will arrive soon.
With this change, when you enter a profile, no one will no longer be able to see the “Likes” section next to the media section among the tabs at the top. This way, we won’t see anyone coming up with things they like anymore. The likes section has come up many times over the years. We have seen that many people, from politicians to celebrities, make news for liking things like pornographic content.
Elon Musk is in the main stream, apart from the like section on the profiles. also hide likes and reposts (resharing) he thinks. The billionaire businessman said in a statement a few months ago that he wanted to remove the number of likes and reposts to provide a cleaner experience and only show the number of views. He added that these can only be seen by clicking on the post. We have not seen any steps taken on this issue yet.
