At TEKNOFEST 2022, we saw KIZILELMA, the apple of Baykar’s eye, exhibiting Turkey’s unmanned warplanes and other vehicles.

We took a close look at Bayraktar KIZILELMA!

Bayraktar Kızılelma, namely MİUS (Combat Unmanned Aircraft System), as well as Akıncı TİHA and TB2 SİHA models attract a lot of attention. The eyes of not only Europe but the whole world are on Red Apple.

Kızılelma differs from all UAV, SİHA and TİHA platforms, especially its predecessors TB2 and Akıncı. Because when we look at its technical and design features, we actually see an unmanned warplane.

Although Turkey is currently developing its own jet trainer and fighter aircraft models, these fully unmanned and autonomous vehicles will be the sole leader of the next 100 years. So much so that when we eliminate the human factor from jet planes, their true potential is revealed. Sharper maneuvers and high speeds can be examples of this.

However, the development of such systems progresses in direct proportion to technology. For example, even Tesla’s autonomous vehicles are still not fully ready for traffic. This type of unmanned jet aircraft, on the other hand, needs a very solid infrastructure work in order to distinguish hundreds, perhaps thousands of targets and friends, to navigate on its own and to perform missions on the battlefield.

Therefore, we will see that Bayraktar Kızılelma has evolved into very different places in the next 20 years. In fact, a faster way than expected can be achieved with the contribution of alliances and organizations that have a high interest in the project, such as NATO.

Bayraktar KIZILELMA features:

  • Flight time / Airtime: 5 hours
  • Maximum take-off weight: 6 tons
  • operational altitude: 35 thousand feet
  • Mission radius: 500 NM (nautical miles) / 900+ km
  • Cruising speed: Mach 0.6 (may increase to Mach 0.8+ and Mach 1.2+ in the future)
  • Payload capacity: 1500 kg (with internal weapon stations)
  • High maneuverability
  • Automatic take-off and landing
  • Low radar signature
  • SATCOM communication
  • Take off from short-runway aircraft carriers
  • Compatible with AESA radar
