Redesigned call screen and contacts design: iOS 17 brings an update that brings customization features to the call and contacts screen. The phone app allows users to express themselves with customizable profile cards called Person Posters. Users can customize appearance, typography, font colors, and features such as photos or Memoji. People Posters are also compatible with third-party search apps.
Live Voicemail: This feature allows users to see the real-time transcript when someone leaves a voicemail and reply when leaving a message. Calls identified as spam will not be detected as Live Voicemail and will be automatically rejected. Live Voice Message transcription will be performed on the device, ensuring confidentiality.
Audio and Video Messages on FaceTime: FaceTime now supports audio and video messages, so users can leave messages when they’re busy and come back later to listen. FaceTime calls are also made more fun with animations called reactions. In addition, with an update to Apple TV 4K, FaceTime will also be available on the television screen.
New features to iMessage: iMessage application has also been updated and gained new features. With the check-in feature, it will be able to notify the person sharing the location, make extensive searches with the text-based filtering feature, and customize their chats with new stickers.
AirDrop-like data transfer: This feature, called NameDrop, allows devices to be brought together to easily share photos and videos. Large files are transferred over Wi-Fi and shared app experiences can be launched.
Apple Watch standby mode comes to iPhone: With iOS 17, Apple Watch standby feature is also available on iPhone. Thanks to this feature, the phone can be used even when the iPhone is horizontal.
