Warner Music Group Has Made Another Metaverse Deal!

According to a press release released today, Warner Music Group (WMG) will be collaborating with blockchain-based game developer Splinterlands.

This step marks Warner Music Group’s second attempt into the Metaverse industry. At the end of January, the company announced that it had purchased a plot on the blockchain game The Sandbox. The music giant plans to organize virtual concerts on this plot in the future.

With his collaboration with Splinterlands, Warner has thus proven that he is seriously approaching the new virtual world. Warner Music executive Oana Ruxandra said in a statement that the new deal with Splinterlands could create new sources of income for the musicians within the company.

Splinterlands CEO and founder Jesse Reich also stated in his statement that they are pleased with the agreement with the music giant:

The two companies’ plans were detailed in the press release as follows:

“Splinterlands and WMG will move towards arcade-style games, producing mobile-friendly, accessible games that can facilitate wider adoption and foster community building more easily than traditional play-to-win games.”

Splinterlands had previously produced an NFT-based digital card game. Players could sell these digital cards for Splinterlands Token. The game currently has 1.8 million players, 450,000 of which are daily active.
